Great Paintings From Refugee Week
02 Oct 2009 12:39 pm
To mark refugee week 15-21 June students from Our Lady’s & St Joseph in Dalston and Cardinal Pole in Hommerton were invited to communicate with Burmese refugees by the Thai Children’s Trust.
Students at Our Lady’s and St Joseph learnt a little about Burmese refugees. They then created colourful paintings of their school and local area to send to Has Thoo Lei school for Burmese Refugee
Cardinal Pole students were able to send letters to the older students at Has Thoo Lei, who learn English at the school. The students at this school wrote particularly sensitive letters after learning about the school Has Thoo Lei in Mae Sot.
“ I think you should carry on fighting for your freedom and rights and you should try to set your future as best you can” Luke Fairman 13
“I know all bout your situation in Burma and how you and many other children have suffered tremendously. It is good to hear that you and others have been able to escape from your struggles.” Reony ? 13
Students at Has Thoo Lei are delighted with their letters! They have sent back these beautiful paintings too!
